Merlin-Photographics - darkroom magic

The name comes from the Rolls Royce Merlin engine which powered the Spitfires, Mosquitos and Lancasters, known as the Sound of Freedom.

The family was involved with the De Havilland aircraft company where the Mosquito was designed and built, Dad flew Spitfires which were to become a legend of that era. A tribute to all those people involved in the 'Sound of Freedom'

We are a family business and have been involved in photography for many years.

My earliest years were spent in Dad's darkroom, seeing images appear from dishes of strong smelling chemicals as if by magic.

Intoxicated by the chemicals and magic my curiosity in Images was born, together with the constant chatter of f/stops, lightmeters, cameras, lenses and light, light, light, even when it was obviously dark.
